Detroit lightweight Lanardo "Pain Server" Tyner scored an impressive ninth-round TKO over normally durable veteran Marteze “Too Sweet” Logan of Tennessee in the main event of the "Boxing Under the Stars" event Friday at Meadow Brook Music Festival in Rochester Hills, Michigan.

A vocal crowd estimated at more than 3,000 showed up for promoter Joe Donofrio's outdoor fight night.

The heavy-handed Tyner (17-0, 12 KOs) set to work on battering the body of Logan early, then later switched to the head. He dropped Logan in the first with a right hand and again in Round Eight with a combination.

At the bell to start the ninth, an exhausted Logan (25-30-2, 6 KOs) elected to stay on his stool.

It was an impressive win for Tyner, who showed determination and focus in tracking down the elusive Logan. “He was in the wrong state at the wrong time against the wrong fighter!” he exclaimed, post-fight.

In one of the featured bouts, WIBA super-featherweight champion Jeannine Garside of Windsor, Ontario (7-0-1, 2 KOs) came out aggressive early against fellow undefeated Brooke Dierdorff (4-0-1, 3 KOs) of Illinois, knocking her down at the end of the first round with an extended flurry along the ropes.

Dierdorff, however, recovered well and the two women went to war in thrilling fashion.

Garside's power was the difference. She dropped Dierdorff again in the third and twice more in the sixth before finally earning the TKO from referee Frank Garza at 1:10.

Afterward, Garside expressed her desire to unify the division, while Dierdorff hoped for a rematch.

In a battle of Michigan veterans, Waterford's “Pistol” Pete Cantu broke open an entertaining lightweight scrap by scoring three knockdowns in Round Five and stopping Grand Rapids' Reggie Nash.

Cantu (11-6-1, 8 KOs) looked to be having trouble solving Nash's clever style before a long right hand turned the fight his way for good.

The end came at 2:53 of the fifth.

In the opening bout, Detroit light-heavyweight Darryl “The People's Choice” Cunningham Jr. (7-1, 3 KOs) knocked down Tennessee native Edgar King in Round One with a powerful right hand and twice more in Round Three with a mixture of body shots and straight rights.

Cunningham cruised to a wide unanimous four-round decision (40-32, 40-33 and 40-33).

Looking much improved, Cunningham's powerful right hand was too much for King to withstand.
